Clear Falls High School National Honor Society
The Clear Falls chapter of the National Honor Society was established in our school’s inaugural year. The goal of the National Honor Society is to honor and recognize students who are committed to excellence in four different areas: scholarship, leadership, citizenship and character. Established in 1921, today the National Honor Society has chapters across the United States as well as at international schools around the world, and is one of the most widely recognized student groups in the United States. Our chapter is comprised of students who excel in their academic pursuits, their commitment to helping those around them, their focus on integrity and excellence, and their development as promising young men and women.
Our chapter focuses on developing leadership and a spirit of service here at Clear Falls. We have several service projects to help the Village and our local community throughout the year, including Caroling for Cans during the holidays and the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life in the spring. Membership is open to Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors who meet the academic requirements and complete the application process, which is held in the fall semester of each school year. Students are contacted via mail in the fall notifying them of their eligibility to apply, and must complete the membership application for review by the Faculty Selection Committee. Students must meet the following requirements in order to be considered for membership:
- a cumulative grade point average of 4.5 on a 6.0 scale.
- three positive teacher recommendations
- a completed application
- documentation of community service hours
Once selected as members of our chapter, students must maintain an active membership in our organization by attending chapter meetings, involving themselves in group service projects, and demonstrating a continued commitment to academic integrity and excellence. Senior members earn the right to wear a white National Honor Society stole at graduation.
